Why Women's Fitness Became Personal

Romel's commitment to women's fitness extends beyond his professional experience. After watching his aunt battle and ultimately pass away from breast cancer, his perspective on health, strength, and the importance of supporting women changed deeply. The experience helped shape a personal mission: create a fitness environment where women can prioritize their health without feeling intimidated, judged, or overlooked. Today, after working with 300+ women, Romel continues to make women's strength and wellness an important part of Canadian Park Training.

His goal isn't simply to help women exercise more. It's to help clients become stronger, more capable, more confident, and more comfortable in their bodies.

Understanding What It Means to Start With Challenges

Romel also knows firsthand that becoming active isn't always easy. Growing up with asthma taught him to understand his body's limits while gradually developing greater strength and endurance. Over time, he became a runner and functional strength coach, experiences that continue to influence the way he trains clients today.

That perspective is central to his coaching philosophy:

Challenge people enough to create change without making them feel defeated or overwhelmed.

Training Across Generations

Romel's mission extends beyond the walls of Canadian Park Training. His certifications and experience have allowed him to work with different stages of life, including women, youth, adults, and seniors. He wants Canadian Park Training to continue building relationships with families, schools, healthcare organizations, employers, and community programs throughout Boston.Children and families are especially important to that vision.

Romel Sanday is a Boston-based personal trainer, functional strength coach, and founder of Canadian Park Training, a private personal training studio located on Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay.

With more than 12 years of experience in the fitness industry, Romel has helped clients build strength, lose weight, improve mobility, move with greater confidence, and develop healthier relationships with exercise. Over the course of his career, he has worked with more than 300 women and counting, along with beginners, seniors, youth, busy professionals, athletes, and people returning to exercise after periods of inactivity.

His approach combines personal training, functional strength training, weight-management support, mobility, corrective exercise, conditioning, and sustainable fitness habits. Rather than giving every client the same workout, Romel focuses on understanding the individual—their goals, experience, limitations, lifestyle, and confidence level—and building a program around them.

From Roxbury to Newbury

Romel's journey in fitness began long before Canadian Park Training had its own studio. Born and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Romel gained experience working in different fitness environments throughout Boston, including InnerCity Weightlifting, a Boston nonprofit that has used personal training and employment opportunities as part of its work with people affected by systemic violence.

Romel went on to gain experience at Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, Boston Sports Clubs, and smaller independent gyms throughout Boston. Each environment taught him something different about coaching, people, and the type of trainer he wanted to become.

After years of learning, coaching, and building relationships with clients, Romel accomplished a major goal: opening his own private personal training studio on Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay. That journey became the inspiration behind a phrase that represents Canadian Park Training's roots:

#Roxbury2Newbury

Hard work builds paths.

For Romel, Roxbury to Newbury isn't about forgetting where he came from. It's about showing what can be built through persistence, and using that success to create opportunities for others.

Romel is committed to supporting individuals both inside and outside of the gym by contributing to programs that promote education, career development, and long-term wellness.
